Daily CLC Prayer verse

“So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” (‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because it seems God has made us all in a unique way and He has a certain purpose for all of us. A friend will feel completely convicted to reach out to another friend when I have no conviction and vice versa. This happens with many friends in Christ and I see it as something that God puts on our particular hearts at a particular time. James seems to say that we must follow those convictions or to us it is a sin. Please pray that we and our friends follow the nudges that He puts on our hearts today. Please pray for Cedric, Jonnell and Devon’s meeting this Saturday.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” (‭James‬ ‭3‬:‭17-18‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because it seems too simple, but God just asks for obedience. This could be tough if we are expecting a certain outcome and may be putting “something” above God. If we trust God and believe Romans 8:28, this can become our way of handling everything. Please pray that we and our friends put ALL our trust in God ad obey Him today. Please pray for Steven and Cheever’s group.

Happy Easter!

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. (‭Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬ ESV)

All,

How thankful are we that our sins are forgiven and all of our loved ones sins are forgiven!

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭2-4‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because James says to count it as joy when we face various trials. I’m sure most of us would rather not go through any trials, but we know that’s impossible.  If we believe Romans 8:28, then we should know that God has a purpose in all things. It seems trials are easier to walk through when I think there is a purpose. Please pray that we and our friends trust in God’s purpose. Please pray for our nations leaders.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.” (‭Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭7‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out as one of our CLC verses, but also because of the people who spoke to me the Word of God. I am fortunate to have parents who spend considerable time every morning in the Word and live lives that are conforming to His image. There is not a moment spent with them that I don’t look back on as a very peaceful, God-filled moment as it so permeates their life now.  As we remember this day as the day that Christ was crucified on the Cross for us, please pray that we and our friends appreciate what Christ has done for us. Please pray for all the men currently contemplating CLC.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe,” (‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭28‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because it is one thing we always “have”.  During a down period in my life several years ago, I sensed God letting me know that I “have” two things in life. 1) I have the present moment. 2) I have a relationship with Christ. EVERYTHING else can be taken away except those two. I realized I was down because I was putting my hope in something that could be taken away. Please pray that we and our friends put our hope in that that cannot be shaken. Please pray for Brandon and Doug’s group.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.” (‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭24-25‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because of the choice Moses made. Choosing to be mistreated over pleasure seems odd. However, since a relationship with Christ gives me such peace and joy, I can understand how Moses would see this more of a choice between God and the world.  He would rather be with God in the worst conditions than to be without Him in the “best” worldly condition. Please pray that we and our friends are guided by our relationship with God and not the shiny things of this world. Please pray for Jonnell, Cedric and Devon’s group.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” (‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭6‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because it’s says it’s impossible to please God without faith. I know there will be many “right and wrong” decisions to make today, but there will also be decisions that will require faith in God’s promises today. Do we see those as opportunities to please God?  Please pray that we and our friends trust God in faith when prompted with decisions today. Please pray for Cheever and Steven’s group.

Daily CLC prayer verse

“For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,” (‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭26‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because it seems to slap Grace in the face. I reread it several times and a couple thoughts came. First, it uses the word “deliberately”. It also made me think of “trust”. I know I want to deliberately sin at times because I do not trust a promise God has in the Bible. I am faced with a decision at that point in time with what I put my trust or hope in. That one decision may not ruin my life, but many of those( and the following ones get easier and easier) will determine who I am. Please pray that we and our friend make every decision based on the trust that God has our ultimate best interests in heart. Please pray for Jeremy and Gary’s info meeting tomorrow night.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” (‭Hebrews‬ ‭9‬:‭27-28‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because it speaks how Jesus will “save those who are eagerly waiting for Him”. We hear a lot about what Christians are against and its gets easy to forget that Christ came to save us, not we save ourselves so we will be judged perfectly. It’s like swimming the Pacific Ocean, some people may be able to swim a little further than others, but it’s a impossible task for everyone and Christ is the only one who can transform us. Please pray that we and our friends seek Christ to transform us into His likeness. Please pray for Jeremy and Gary’s informational meeting this week.
