Daily CLC Prayer verse

“When day came, the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes. And they led him away to their council, and they said, “If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe,”‭‭Luke‬ ‭22:66-67‬ ‭ESV‬‬

All,
This stands out because the very people that are charged to take care of the people spiritually did not recognize Jesus. It’s bad enough they didn’t see Him, but they saw Him as a threat and crucified Him. Are people looking to you to lead them? Are you leading them in the right direction? Towards Jesus? Please pray that we and our friends point everyone to Christ as hope in Christ is the only real hope. Please pray for CLC Buckhead Social on 9/24.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“And he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.”‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:29-34‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/luk.21.29-34.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus said, “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life”. “Cares of this life”? How do we not have cares? But He said “weighed down” with the cares. We all haves cares, but if we are “weighed” down by them, where are we placing our hope? Please pray that we and our friends go to God immediately in prayer when we are weighed down and give them to Him and trust God in that moment (Romans 8:28). Please pray for the men coming to the Buckhead social on 9/24.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.””‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:1-4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/luk.21.1-4.esv
All,
This stands out because the widow gave out of her poverty. Why would God NEED money? Why would any ministry constantly need money? It’s seems here that it’s not that God needs any kind of provision, but allows people and challenges people to decide where they place their HOPE. Most of us put a lot of our hope in making sure we have enough money to be comfortable. However, only we know ourselves if we are putting more hope in our possessions OR in God. Please pray that we and our friends reflect today on where we REALLY put our hope and make changes if needed. Please pray for the men that will be at the CLC Buckhead social on 9/24.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.”‭‭Luke‬ ‭20:34-36‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/luk.20.34-36.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus said, “but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead”. He doesn’t say everyone who was good or everyone who He died for, but those who are considered “worthy”. Jesus said, “I know my sheep and my sheep know me”(John 10:14). We are “worthy” when we “know” Him and He “knows” us. Please pray that we and our friends “know” Jesus and not just “know of” Jesus. Even the demons “know of” Jesus. Please pray for the Buckhead social on 9/24 and let me know if you are coming.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar, or not?” But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them, “Show me a denarius. Whose likeness and inscription does it have?” They said, “Caesar’s.” He said to them, “Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they were not able in the presence of the people to catch him in what he said, but marveling at his answer they became silent.”‭‭Luke‬ ‭20:22-26‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/luk.20.22-26.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus points out the difference between worldly concerns and spiritual concerns. Obviously the Jews did not like paying exorbitant taxes and hated tax collectors, but it was the economy they lived in. Does Caesar provide or does God provide? Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s or deal with the consequences. Give to God what is God’s or deal with the consequences. Which consequence do you want to pay? God created the earth, sun, gravity, time, etc. Please pray that we and our friends render unto God what is God’s. Please pray for the Buckhead social on 9/24.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you and hem you in on every side and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visitation.””‭‭Luke‬ ‭19:41-44‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/luk.19.41-44.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus said, “because you did not know the time of your visitation.” It is said that The book of Daniel predicted this day of Christ’s entry into the city by the very day(“173,880 days—is elapsed from March 5, 444 BC, until March 30, AD 33”

How important is it for us to know and study the Bible? While Jesus says that no one will know the exact time of His second coming, there are many things He does want us to know that are revealed to us by daily time in prayer and studying the Bible. Please pray that we and our friends spend time with Jesus today. Please pray for the CLC Buckhead social on 9/24.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.””‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:13-14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/luk.18.13-14.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus said, “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Some of the best people I know will exalt themselves at times so people know how often they go to church, gave money, helped so and so, etc. I’m sure I am in that camp without realizing it also. I can’t help but fall into the “earning Salvation” trap occasionally and that’s what brings that about. When we realize what God did for us on the cross, we revert back to pure humility and gratefulness. Please pray that we and our friends reflect today on what God has already done for us and live in grateful humility all day. Please pray for the Buckhead social on 9/24.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed. On that day, let the one who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away, and likewise let the one who is in the field not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it. I tell you, in that night there will be two in one bed. One will be taken and the other left.”‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:30-34‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/luk.17.30-34.esv
All,
This stands out because these verses are in a section of Luke describing Jesus’s second coming, but the verse, “Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it.” Is interjected in there. How important is that verse? It’s seems to be the essence of God-centered vs. self-centered thinking. Please pray that we and our friends make decisions today on God-centered thinking as opposed to self-centered thinking. Please pray for the Buckhead social on 9/24.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“And he said to his disciples, “Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.”‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:1-2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/luk.17.1-2.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus said, “but woe to the one through whom they come!” I doubt anyone on this email is leading people to lie, steal, drugs, etc, but we may be leading people into sin by condoning a sinful action to take place. There can be heresy in the church, human trafficking under our noses, etc.. If Jesus were to come back today, what would He be astonished by that we are not calling out as sin and helping people see it? Please pray that we and our friends help our friends out of areas where the “thief is stealing, killing and destroying them (John 10:10)”. Please pray over friends to introduce to CLC at the Buckhead social on 9/24.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

““There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’ And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father’s house— for I have five brothers —so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’””‭‭Luke‬ ‭16:19-31‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/luk.16.19-31.esv
All,
This is a long one, but there wasn’t a good place to cut the parable and still get the point. The part that stands out is when Abraham said, “If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.” How important is it for us and our friends to know the Scriptures?!?! Do we have any friends who are the “rich men” in this parable? Do they have any idea what they are destined for? Please pray that we and our friends read our Bible and spend time with Jesus daily. Please pray for the CLC Buckhead social on 9/24.
