“But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.””Luke 18:13-14 ESV

All,
This stands out because Jesus said, “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Some of the best people I know will exalt themselves at times so people know how often they go to church, gave money, helped so and so, etc. I’m sure I am in that camp without realizing it also. I can’t help but fall into the “earning Salvation” trap occasionally and that’s what brings that about. When we realize what God did for us on the cross, we revert back to pure humility and gratefulness. Please pray that we and our friends reflect today on what God has already done for us and live in grateful humility all day. Please pray for the Buckhead social on 9/24.
