Daily CLC Prayer verse

“yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.”‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2:16‬ ‭ESV‬‬

All,
This stands out because Paul says, “but through faith in Jesus Christ”. I hear people say they have faith and sometimes I wonder what that faith is in. I wish they would finish the sentence and say faith “in Jesus Christ” if the faith is in Jesus. For me, faith in Jesus means complete trust and complete surrender to His will. How do I know His will? My old preacher Don Harp told me to do 3 things (pray, read the Bible and seek wise counsel). CLC has been a great way to do all three. Please pray that we and our friends are grateful for the ability to put our faith in Jesus and do all 3 things today. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and fundraising breakfast with Bill Curry on 2/18.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭13:14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/2co.13.14.esv
All,
This stands out because Paul says, “fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” How comforting is it to know the Holy Spirit is with us? Thankfully I lean on the power of the Holy Spirit more and more. He knows everything. I believe He knew what Words we would read when He was guiding the hands of the writers of the Bible. He is with us to go to in moments of anxiety and joy. Please pray that we and our friends trust in the Holy Spirit today to guide us in all our pursuits. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and fundraising breakfast with Bill Curry on 2/18.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you more, am I to be loved less? But granting that I myself did not burden you, I was crafty, you say, and got the better of you by deceit. Did I take advantage of you through any of those whom I sent to you? I urged Titus to go, and sent the brother with him. Did Titus take advantage of you? Did we not act in the same spirit? Did we not take the same steps?”‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:15-18‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/2co.12.15-18.esv
All,
This stands out because I often take for granted the very people I love and appreciate the most. My parents would and will do anything for me, but yet I feel entitled to their love sometimes. The same with my wife, kids and good friends. What a blessing God has given us in these relationships with people who truly care for us and want the best for us. Do we feel entitled to God’s love? Do we feel entitled to our preacher bringing God’s Word to us? Please pray that we and our friends appreciate and thank the people who care enough about us to speak Christ into our lives today(Thank you Mom and Dad for introducing me to Christ!). Please pray for the CLC Prayer and fundraising breakfast with Bill Curry on 2/18.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.”‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭11:30‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/2co.11.30.esv
All,
This stands out because it’s such a important part of CLC. I am embarrassed of my weaknesses as most people are. However, with Christian brothers, weaknesses take on a different look. They allow people to really know the real you. Also, revealing known weaknesses uncover true weaknesses that I thought were strengths. Please pray that we and our friends continue to build friendships where weaknesses are discussed. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and fundraising breakfast with Bill Curry on 2/18.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.”‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭11:3-4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/2co.11.3-4.esv
All,
This stands out because Paul says, “your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.” Years ago I thought God’s purpose for me was to encourage people to read the Bible. If we spend time in the Bible, we come to know Jesus in a way that is impossible through great sermons, books, friends, etc. It’s also easy for Satan to lead us astray if we don’t know what the Bible actually says. Please pray that we and our friends spend time this year reading God’s Word and getting to know Him more. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and fundraising breakfast with Bill Curry on 2/18.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.”‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:4-6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/2co.10.4-6.esv
All,
This stands out because Paul says, “take every thought captive to obey Christ”. Is it possible to take EVERY thought captive to OBEY Christ? When I read this the first time years ago and tried to put it into practice, shackles came off me. We all know this profound truth, but let ourselves off the hook often. Can we take EVERY thought today? How about the next hour? Ask The Holy Spirit to empower you to do this. Today will be a drastically different day. Please pray that we and our friends take captive our thoughts today in obedience to Christ. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and fundraising breakfast with Bill Curry on 2/18. Please let me know if you haven’t received details about this event.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:6-8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/2co.9.6-8.esv
All,
This stands out because Paul says, “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Paul is referring to money here, but it can also apply to love. I was talking with a good friend last night and he sees a need for more love among Christians and I agree. Can we decide in our heart to see everyone as a child of God today? Can we truly interact with people in a God-centered way and less of a self-centered way? Please pray that we and our friends see today through a God-centered worldview. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and fundraising breakfast with Bill Curry on 2/18 at the Georgian Club.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“As it is, I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repenting. For you felt a godly grief, so that you suffered no loss through us. For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.”‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭7:9-10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/2co.7.9-10.esv
All,
This stands out because Paul says, “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret”. God wants us to have “life to the full” and if He sees us involved in something that will bring death, He will convict us because He loves us. It’s tough to see His conviction as loving, but He sees what we don’t see. Please pray that we and our friends rejoice when grief leads to repentance. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and fundraising breakfast with Bill Curry at the Georgian club on 2/18.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭6:14-16‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/2co.6.14-16.esv
All,
This stands out because Paul says, “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness?” Obviously Paul doesn’t mean to not associate with unbelievers because Paul did that everyday, but he says “unequally yoked”. We need to be careful of the people in our lives who have a major influence over us, but don’t seem to love Christ. We want to love them, but also love Christ more. Please pray that we and our friends ask God to give us the peace today that only He can give. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and fundraising breakfast with Bill Curry on 2/18.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:18-20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/2co.5.18-20.esv
All,
This stands out because Paul says, “entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.” That’s pretty big. Do we think of certain friends and think we are part of God’s plan to reach them? Do we realize the good news of reconciliation that we get to tell people? They may not realize they want it, but when they do, both of you will be joyful that you trusted God to be a part of God’s purpose. Please pray that we and our friends see our loved ones and share the good news with them. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and fundraising breakfast with Bill Curry on 2/18.
