All,
Here is the reading plan for the next year if you want to read along.
I’m reading the @YouVersion plan ‘Old Testament’. Check it out here:
Daily CLC Prayer verse
Today’s reading is Genesis 1, Psalm 1 and Joshua 1.
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”
Psalms 1:1-3 ESV
http://bible.com/59/psa.1.1-3.esv
All,
This stands out because the Psalmist says, “his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” God loves us and wants the best for us. Can you imagine writing down all the advice your kids would ever need? You would want them to read and study that book all there life because you love them and it would be best for them. Please pray that we and our friends study and dig into the Old Testament this year. I will forward this reading plan shortly so you can follow along as we read the Old Testament together this next year.
Daily CLC Prayer verse
Today’s reading is Revelation 22
“I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.”
Revelation 22:18-21 ESV
http://bible.com/59/rev.22.18-21.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Jesus could come in 5 minutes. Only we know in our hearts if we can’t wait or if that thought terrifies us. Either for our salvation or our loved ones. How would today be different if you knew He is coming tomorrow? Please pray that we and our friends seek the opportunities God gives us today to be a part of His purpose. Please pray over joining us for the next year of reading. We will start on Monday with a plan that will read through the Old Testament over the year(10-15 min/day). I’ll will email the link on Monday so you can start the digital version. I will also put the reading of the day on the first line so you can follow by reading your own Bible. Congratulations to the group that finished reading the New Testament today!
Daily CLC Prayer verse
Today’s reading is Revelation 21
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
And the one who spoke with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city and its gates and walls. The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width. And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia. Its length and width and height are equal. He also measured its wall, 144 cubits by human measurement, which is also an angel’s measurement.”
Revelation 21:1-4, 15-17 ESV
http://bible.us/59/rev.21.1-4,15-17.esv
All,
This stands out because John says, “And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia.” Moses asks God to teach us to number our days(Psalm 90:12). Jesus said He has gone to prepare a place for us. John says there is a specific size to Heaven. How much would you appreciate your relationships if you knew your days were limited? Please pray that we and our friends seek God’s purpose for today for we are not assured tomorrow. Please pray for Tyson’s group.
Daily CLC Prayer verse
Today’s reading is Revelation 20.
“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”
Revelation 20:11-15 ESV
http://bible.com/59/rev.20.11-15.esv
All,
This stands out because John says, “if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” John describes many books of deeds, but only one “book of life”. It’s tempting to rely on good deeds or hope the goods deeds of our loved ones will be ok, but Jesus gave us the only route of grace by His death. Please pray that we and our friends help others build a relationship with Christ today. Please pray for any men that would be interested in CLC and give me their names.
Daily CLC Prayer verse
Today’s reading is Revelation 19
“Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.”
Revelation 19:11-13 ESV
http://bible.com/59/rev.19.11-13.esv
All,
This stands out because John says, “in righteousness he judges and makes war.” People will be judged in righteousness. Is it possible to be righteous to God without being cleansed by the grace that Christ offers us? It’s easier to swim the Pacific Ocean back and forth. If it was possible to make our own selves righteous, Christ would not have needed to die for us. Please pray that we and our friends have a relationship with Christ today as if it could be the last, because it might. Please pray for any men you know at the Church of the Apostles that would be interested in CLC. Let me know their names.
Daily CLC Prayer verse
Today’s reading is Revelation 18.
“After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was made bright with his glory. And he called out with a mighty voice, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place for demons, a haunt for every unclean spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable beast.”
Revelation 18:1-2 ESV
http://bible.com/59/rev.18.1-2.esv
All,
This stands out because John says, “After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was made bright with his glory.” “The earth was made bright with his glory”!!! In “The Great Divorce”, C.S. Lewis describes certain beings as shining very brightly in heaven. He also comments how we have never met a mere mortal. Imagine if a person you met today would shine over the whole earth when they are in heaven. Would we see all God’s children in a different way? Please pray that we and our friends love God and love our neighbor. Please pray for the Cobb CLC breakfast on June 15.
Daily CLC Prayer verse
Today’s reading is Revelation 15
“After this I looked, and the sanctuary of the tent of witness in heaven was opened, and out of the sanctuary came the seven angels with the seven plagues, clothed in pure, bright linen, with golden sashes around their chests.”
Revelation 15:5-6 ESV
http://bible.com/59/rev.15.5-6.esv
All,
This stands out because John says, “out of the sanctuary came the seven angels with the seven plagues, clothed in pure, bright linen”. It’s strikes me this morning that these pure, bright angels are the means by which God is carrying out His wrath. God hates to see any of His children perish and wants all of us to live in Heaven forever, but it will not be Heaven if evil is there. He wants to give us life, but He will not force it on us. Please pray that we and our friends ask ourselves if we trust God or ourselves more. Please pray for the Cobb county CLC breakfast on June 15th (change from June 2nd).
Daily CLC Prayer verse
Today’s reading is Revelation 14
“Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.” Another angel, a second, followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who made all nations drink the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality.” And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.”
Revelation 14:6-10 ESV
http://bible.com/59/rev.14.6-10.esv
All,
This stands out because John says, “worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.” Another angel, a second, followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who made all nations drink the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality.” I hear everyday from leaders how we should embrace evolution and sex outside of Biblical marriage. If you do not fully agree with them, you are unenlightened and/or do not love all people. God wants the best for us and knows the truth will set us free. Please pray that we and our friends seek to trust God more and more and the world less and less. Please pray for Tyson’s group.
Daily CLC Prayer verse
Today’s reading is Revelation 13.
“And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven. Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.”
Revelation 13:5-8 ESV
http://bible.com/59/rev.13.5-8.esv
All,
This stands out because John says, “it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling”. How do we know if a leader blasphemies God? Does our society know God or the Bible to be able to tell the difference between a leader that says “nice” but blasphemous things and one that is Christlike? Most non Christians that I know are intelligent and can make rational decisions, but they do not know the Word of God, therefore they can be tempted down a path away from God. Please pray that we and our friends help our friends to have a close relationship with God so as not to be fooled. Please pray for Carla Miles and her transportation.
