Daily CLC Prayer verse

“”When you have finished paying all the tithe of your produce in the third year, which is the year of tithing, giving it to the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, so that they may eat within your towns and be filled, then you shall say before the Lord your God, ‘I have removed the sacred portion out of my house, and moreover, I have given it to the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, according to all your commandment that you have commanded me. I have not transgressed any of your commandments, nor have I forgotten them.”

Deuteronomy 26:12-13 ESV

http://bible.com/59/deu.26.12-13.esv

All,

This stands out because Moses says, “tithing, giving it to the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, so that they may eat within your towns and be filled.” Is it God’s intention for the truly needy to be taken care of by the body of Christ or by government. They need to be assisted, but if Christians don’t do it, something else will and it’s tempting to worship the “something else”. Please pray that we and our friends are good stewards of God’s resources. Please pray for Ishmel as he is about God’s purpose today.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“”You shall not have in your bag two kinds of weights, a large and a small. You shall not have in your house two kinds of measures, a large and a small. A full and fair weight you shall have, a full and fair measure you shall have, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. For all who do such things, all who act dishonestly, are an abomination to the Lord your God.”

Deuteronomy 25:13-16 ESV

http://bible.com/59/deu.25.13-16.esv

All,

This stands out because Moses says, “You shall not have in your bag two kinds of weights, a large and a small.” Is it ok to get away with something just because the other person doesn’t know it? Do we say, “they should have known better”? God sees all deals and knows your heart when you make them. Please pray that we and our friends are honest in all our dealings. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising breakfast on Nov. 28th with Richard Simmons.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Teach me your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence. I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”

Psalms 27:11-14 ESV

http://bible.com/59/psa.27.11-14.esv

All,

This stands out because David says, “be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” Spiritual warfare is real and we must face it at times. It’s tempting to fight adversaries in our own power, but only God can see the solution and we must rely on Him. It takes courage to be patient. Please pray that we and our friends rely on God’s power especially during troubling times. Please pray for Dottie as she recovers from surgery.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Then he called for Solomon his son and charged him to build a house for the Lord, the God of Israel. David said to Solomon, “My son, I had it in my heart to build a house to the name of the Lord my God. But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘You have shed much blood and have waged great wars. You shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed so much blood before me on the earth. Behold, a son shall be born to you who shall be a man of rest. I will give him rest from all his surrounding enemies. For his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days. He shall build a house for my name. He shall be my son, and I will be his father, and I will establish his royal throne in Israel forever.’”‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭22:6-10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/1ch.22.6-10.esv
All,
This stands out because the Lord says, “He shall build a house for my name.” We talk in CLC about being a part of God’s purpose. Does God have a purpose for your family? Are you part of the plans God has for your children? Are you preparing your children to be a part of God’s purpose? Please pray that we and our friends see the plans God has for generations of our families. Please pray for Steve Dews as he seeks a job during this time of year.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Then Satan stood against Israel and incited David to number Israel. So David said to Joab and the commanders of the army, “Go, number Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, and bring me a report, that I may know their number.” But Joab said, “May the Lord add to his people a hundred times as many as they are! Are they not, my lord the king, all of them my lord’s servants? Why then should my lord require this? Why should it be a cause of guilt for Israel?”
But God was displeased with this thing, and he struck Israel.”

‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭21:1-3, 7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/1ch.21.1-3,7.esv
All,
This stands out because the writer says, “Then Satan stood against Israel and incited David to number Israel.” Why would it be bad to take a census of the people? A census in and of itself wouldn’t be bad. God commanded it before, but this time God didn’t command it and David’s intent was the sin. Satan wanted David to rely on Israel’s military power as opposed to God. Do you ever rely on something God has given you instead of God alone? Please pray that we and our friends ask ourselves who or what we trust the most. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising breakfast on Nov. 28th.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“”The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen— just as you desired of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God or see this great fire any more, lest I die.’ And the Lord said to me, ‘They are right in what they have spoken. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. And I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. And whoever will not listen to my words that he shall speak in my name, I myself will require it of him. But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’ And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.”‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭18:15-22‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/deu.18.15-22.esv
All,
This stands out because the Lord says, “I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.” When we want to be a part of God’s purpose, we can pray, seek wise counsel and read the Bible. Sometimes we are tempted to seek counsel that tells us what we want to hear. However, if it’s not God’s purpose, it will ultimately hurt us instead of help us. Please pray that we and our friends seek Godly counsel when making decisions. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising breakfast on Nov. 28th.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“”When you come to the land that the Lord your God is giving you, and you possess it and dwell in it and then say, ‘I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are around me,’ you may indeed set a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose. One from among your brothers you shall set as king over you. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother. Only he must not acquire many horses for himself or cause the people to return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since the Lord has said to you, ‘You shall never return that way again.’ And he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away, nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold. “And when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself in a book a copy of this law, approved by the Levitical priests. And it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes, and doing them, that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, either to the right hand or to the left, so that he may continue long in his kingdom, he and his children, in Israel.”‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭17:14-20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/deu.17.14-20.esv
All,
This stands out because Moses says, “he shall write for himself in a book a copy of this law.” Ken Boa points out this passage often. Also, no king ever did all these requirements and thus began to worship other gods. Imagine if leaders respected God such that they wrote a copy of the Law (Torah, 1st 5 books of the OT). Please pray that we and our friends are leaders that fear God. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising breakfast on Nov. 28th.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭19:1-2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/psa.19.1-2.esv
All,
This stands out because David says, “The heavens declare the glory of God”. When I think about the universe, I wonder how some can think it just created itself. God shows His handiwork everywhere if we just look. Please pray that we and our friends thank God for creating us “to glorify God and enjoy Him forever”(Westminster Catechism). Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising Breakfast on Nov. 28th.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Then David said that no one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, for the Lord had chosen them to carry the ark of the Lord and to minister to him forever. And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the Lord to its place, which he had prepared for it.
and said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites. Consecrate yourselves, you and your brothers, so that you may bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place that I have prepared for it. Because you did not carry it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not seek him according to the rule.” So the priests and the Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel. And the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the Lord.”

‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭15:2-3, 12-15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/1ch.15.2-3,12-15.esv
All,
This stands out because David says, “Because you did not carry it the first time, the Lord our God broke out against us, because we did not seek him according to the rule.” Is there something that you know you should do, but aren’t doing it for some reason? Has God convicted you in the past on a certain action, but you still have not surrendered? Please pray that we and our friends walk in integrity with God’s commands and enjoy the fruit of the Spirit. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising breakfast on Nov. 28.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill? He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart; who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend;”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭15:1-3‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/psa.15.1-3.esv
All,
This stands out because David says, “speaks truth in his heart”. In this world of “relative” truth, how do we know what truth is? Jesus said the “truth will set you free”. Do we look to Jesus for the truth? The Bible for the truth? Yes and yes. It’s tempting to look to the world for truth as it may gives us a sense of control, but it will not set us free like the real truth. Please pray that we and our friends seek truth today in all our dealings. Please pray for a sad Will Creech who didn’t make the basketball team 😞. May he start to understand Romans 8:28.
