Daily CLC Prayer verse

“And when Judah looked, behold, the battle was in front of and behind them. And they cried to the Lord, and the priests blew the trumpets. Then the men of Judah raised the battle shout. And when the men of Judah shouted, God defeated Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. The men of Israel fled before Judah, and God gave them into their hand. Abijah and his people struck them with great force, so there fell slain of Israel 500,000 chosen men. Thus the men of Israel were subdued at that time, and the men of Judah prevailed, because they relied on the Lord, the God of their fathers.”

2 Chronicles 13:14-18 ESV

All,

This stands out because the writer says, “the men of Judah prevailed, because they relied on the Lord”. Are you in a situation that seems hopeless. Are you surrounded? Are you relying solely on yourself? Maybe God helps other people, but you need help NOW? Please pray that we and our friends ask God, listen to God and trust Him. Please pray for John Roney as it’s only been months since his wife went to be with Jesus.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The Lord is righteous.” When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah: “They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak. Nevertheless, they shall be servants to him, that they may know my service and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.””

2 Chronicles 12:6-8 ESV

http://bible.com/59/2ch.12.6-8.esv

All,

This stands out because the Lord says, “Nevertheless, they shall be servants to him, that they may know my service and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.” We don’t realize how great it is to serve God until we’ve walked into bondage of worldly things. He warns us constantly of this temptation, but we usually don’t see it until it’s too late. However, God is always waiting like a parent to forgive us when we ask Him. Please pray that we and our friends ask God today to reveal any areas of unconfessed sin and then wait patiently. Thank you for all your prayers for the breakfast!!

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“For the Levites left their common lands and their holdings and came to Judah and Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons cast them out from serving as priests of the Lord, and he appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat idols and for the calves that he had made. And those who had set their hearts to seek the Lord God of Israel came after them from all the tribes of Israel to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the Lord, the God of their fathers. They strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and for three years they made Rehoboam the son of Solomon secure, for they walked for three years in the way of David and Solomon.”

2 Chronicles 11:14-17 ESV

http://bible.com/59/2ch.11.14-17.esv

All,

This stands out because the writer says, “And those who had set their hearts to seek the Lord God of Israel came after them from all the tribes of Israel to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the Lord”. As Jeroboam became king of the now divided Israel, he decided to worship other gods. However, those who worshipped God made sacrifices and moved away from idol worship. Please pray that we and our friends “be in the world, but not of the world”. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising breakfast this morning from 7:30-9:30.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord. Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!”

Psalms 40:1-4 ESV

http://bible.com/59/psa.40.1-4.esv

All,

This stands out because David says, “Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!” God sees tomorrow as easily as He sees today. It seems crazy to not trust Him in everything, but we are human and are tempted to trust earthly things. Please pray that we and our friends put our trust completely in God today as opposed to God and……. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising breakfast tomorrow.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.”

Psalms 37:4-8 ESV

http://bible.com/59/psa.37.4-8.esv

All,

This stands out because David says, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.” Being still and patient is difficult at times because it takes so much trust. I know patience is how God gets my attention as I have very little in my own power. Please pray that we and our friends enjoy the stillness with God today. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising breakfast on Tuesday.

Happy Thanksgiving

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV

http://bible.com/59/1th.5.16-18.esv

All,

Happy Thanksgiving! Instead of sending a verse from the Old Testament reading plan, I’m sending one of my favorite verses. This verse challenges us to be thankful IN ALL circumstances. Notice it doesn’t say FOR all circumstances. We can be thankful IN ALL circumstances because of what Christ did for us on the cross. I am thankful for all of you! Have a great Thanksgiving!

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“And when Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel, he said to them, “Take to heart all the words by which I am warning you today, that you may command them to your children, that they may be careful to do all the words of this law. For it is no empty word for you, but your very life, and by this word you shall live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess.””

Deuteronomy 32:45-47 ESV

http://bible.com/59/deu.32.45-47.esv

All,

This stands out because Moses says, “that you may command them to your children, that they may be careful to do all the words of this law.” Do our children know the Word of God or know OF the Word of God? Will they know it well enough to teach others? God warned Israel constantly that they must teach their children about God or the next generation will be tempted by man-made gods. It was true then and is true now. Please pray that we and our friends enjoy this Thanksgiving and be thankful with our families for all God has given us. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising breakfast on Tuesday.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together! I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”

Psalms 34:1-4 ESV

http://bible.com/59/psa.34.1-4.esv

All,

This stands out because David says, “his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” It’s tough to be selfish when we are grateful. Gratefulness seems to be the key to a well lived life. We are all given different opportunities, but the grateful seem to make the most of what they are given. Please pray that we and our friends keep a grateful heart all week. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising breakfast on Nov. 28th.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; he puts the deeps in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.”

Psalms 33:6-9 ESV

http://bible.com/59/psa.33.6-9.esv

All,

This stands out because David says, “let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! For he spoke, and it came to be”. When we really think about who God is and the fact that we get to speak to him, we should be in awe. We have the opportunity to continually abide in Him and receive His counsel. Please pray that we and our friends appreciate this time today. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising breakfast on Nov. 28th.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“”But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. For we are strangers before you and sojourners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no abiding. O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a house for your holy name comes from your hand and is all your own.”

1 Chronicles 29:14-16 ESV

http://bible.com/59/1ch.29.14-16.esv

All,

This stands out because David says, “For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.” That’s a pretty good deal. God gives us what He wants us to give Him. Do we always see it in that perspective? The Westminster catechism says the Chief end of man is the glorify God and ENJOY Him forever. Please pray that we and our friends appreciate what God has given us and give to Him freely. Please pray for the CLC Prayer and Fundraising breakfast on Nov. 28th.
