Daily CLC Prayer verse

“and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— “(‭Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭9‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because of righteousness that comes through Faith. I see faith as God’s plan over my plan. His plan is “best” and my plan is at most “good”. However at the time of needing faith, my plan looks best and I’m tempted to push my plan through. This verse confirms that we can not only participate in His plan, but those are the moments of transformation into more of His likeness. Please pray that we and our friends trust in God’s plan and purpose for us today. Please pray for Jonnell, Cedric and Devon’s group as they are filling there group.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Do all things without grumbling or disputing,” (‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭13-14‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because of “without grumbling or disputing”. We gave up complaining as a family for lent. I have seen complaining culminate in my kids because of me. As we read, Paul says to not complain in ALL things. When we tie in the verse before it, I remember that God has a purpose for the things I want to complain about. Please pray that we and our friends see God’s purpose in all that we do today. Please pray for our Buckhead CLC get together on March 19th from 5:30-7:30pm at Piedmont Driving Club.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, “(‭Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭29‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because of the “suffer for His sake”. We all know that being a Christian doesn’t mean a easy life, but I don’t want to suffer if I don’t have to. Well, I don’t know anything that was a true blessing that I didn’t “suffer” for. There is a whole lesson in what it means to suffer, but in the simplest terms, anything of worth will entail suffering. When we suffer for Christ sake in the way He wants us to suffer, it’s brings about joy. Please pray we and our friends keep our focus on Christ in time of suffering. Please pray for Cheever and Stephen as they are approaching their overnight kickoff.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;” (‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭16‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because “in all circumstances”. There are several times I look back at decisions that I made that were not rooted in faith and I could see why the other choice was God’s plan. At the time, it just seems like a neutral decision that isn’t really “against” God, but it turned out to definitely not be His plan and I am convicted of it. Please pray that we see every circumstance in the light of Faith in Christ. Please pray for Doug and Brandon’s group as there are planning for their over night kickoff.

“For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.” (‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭5‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because it seems to go against grace. Another way to look at it is like training for golf. If we continue to knowingly swing the wrong swing without trying to improve the swing, we will never change our handicap no matter how bad we may want to. It seems to be that simple, we either want to gratify the flesh or please the Spirit. Flesh leads to death and Spirit leads to Kingdom of Christ and God. Please pray that we and our friends be honest with ourselves and what we put our trust in. Please pray for the men that would be great co-facilitators for CLC and give me their name.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭19‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because of how it surpasses knowledge. I have a need to solve things as soon as they are put on my plate. The problem doesn’t need to be actually solved, I just need to know HOW it will be solved. This verse screams our need to abide in Christ and be filled by His love, not something we did or solved. Please pray that we seek to know the love of Christ above all things today. Please pray for Jonnell, Cedric and Devon’s group today as they need a couple more guys.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.” (‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭14-16‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because it explains how we can embrace our “enemies”. I see a lot of evil and manipulation in the world whether it’s people expressing it through religion or politics or something else. This verse seems to point us back to the redemption of Christ and how He can turn us and our enemies into one. Please pray that we and our friends pray for all our “enemies” to know Christ. Please pray for Jeremy and Gary’s commitment meeting on Feb 24th.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.” (‭Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭13-14‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because of the role of the Holy Spirit. Sealed by the Holy Spirit has taken on a very active role as I continue this walk. What was a nice thought has turned into a constant guidance. I sense a nudge towards things or away from things more distinctly and try to confirm through prayer, with the Bible and wise counsel. Please pray that we and our friends are grateful for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Please pray for the potential co-facilitators this year.

Pictured above is Michael Escoe. He won the 2015 Len Sykes award as our CLC man of the year. In the spirit of Len Sykes, who brought the first CLC group to Atlanta, Michael has gone above and beyond in his service to CLC this past year and prior years. He gives of his time and talents to further the cause of CLC to continue discipling men in Atlanta.

CLC Men,

We had a great breakfast this year!! As you can see we had a great turnout of men to see CLC guys from around Atlanta and to hear great words of wisdom from our main speaker Bill Curry.

We had a recap of CLC over 2014 which culminated in the ability to start our 84th group this February. We also spoke of our continual need to identify our future co-facilitators and how we really need the men of CLC to be the eyes and ears in their particular areas to introduce me to these future leaders.

Seen above is Bill Curry (center) with Craig Fry (on the left), President of CLC and Neal Creech (on the right), City Director of CLC. Bill Curry has been known for his ability to inspire men, but I have heard from a lot of men at the breakfast that said he gave the best presentation they have ever seen by anybody. Bill could take us from laughing to crying and back to laughing again in 60 seconds. He truly inspired every man there and we wanted to run through a wall after hearing him. I recalled to my son later about his explanation of choosing the “pain” of discipline or the “pain” of regret. Thanks to Bill for his leadership for Christ in Atlanta!!

It was incredibly humbling to see how many men wanted to be a part of CLC continuing to grow in Atlanta and give toward the fundraising of CLC. We raised over $43,000.00 at the breakfast! One anonymous alumni made a challenge that for every two dollars raised, he would match it with one dollar. If you were not able to attend and would like to be a part of helping CLC financially, please consider donating. The donor will keep the challenge up until the end of February. CLC-Atlanta would need $30,000 more in funds, that would mean if at least 20 people pledged $83.00/month, we would make our goal for 2015!! Please pray over this investment in CLC.

I would like to personally thank all the Table leaders who made this happen!! I would also like to thank the CLT boards who spent many hours planning this great event. Without these groups of men, we could have never pulled this event off. I would especially like to thank Ken Worley for capturing the event with great pictures. I think everyone would agree that they did an incredible job!! Thank YOU!!

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted”. (‭Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬ ESV)

All,

This sticks out because of the “restore in a spirit of gentleness”. Everyone I know, myself included, has veered of the path at some point and will be tempted again and again. It’s so nice to be in relationships with people who truly care about you and just want to walk with you to restore you, not to judge you. When we judge, we should so we can help restore, not condemn. Please pray that we give and receive the spirit of gentleness along our walk with Christ. Please pray for the men that you know that should be a CLC co-facilitator and give me their name.
