Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” Some of the Pharisees near him heard these things, and said to him, “Are we also blind?” Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, ‘We see,’ your guilt remains.”‭‭John‬ ‭9:39-41‬ ‭ESV‬‬

All,
This stands out because Jesus says, “If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, ‘We see,’ your guilt remains.” Can leaders of the church continue to turn a blind eye to what Jesus says? Can they mislead people to continue sinning by telling them their sins are not sins in order to increase attendance? Please pray for Christian leaders to speak the truth in love so they will not lead “blind” people and themselves into judgement. Please pray for Jonnell, Cedric and Devon’s group.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“So they said to him, “Then how were your eyes opened?” He answered, “The man called Jesus made mud and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed and received my sight.” They said to him, “Where is he?” He said, “I do not know.””‭‭John‬ ‭9:10-12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

All,
This stands out because Jesus does something unique to all of us. He heals us in unique and different ways because we are unique. When Jesus has changed you in some way, you can’t say it was you who did it and no one else can tell you it wasn’t Jesus. Please pray that we and our friends think about these things when unbelievers ask why we are Christians. Please pray for Cheever and Steven’s overnight this weekend.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.” So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.”‭‭John‬ ‭8:56-59‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/jhn.8.56-59.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus says He is God when He says, “I am”. C.S. Lewis said that Jesus is either God or He is crazy. He can’t be a nice little prophet. We, as Christians, know the power of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Don’t we want our friends to know this power? Please pray that we and our friends are thankful for the Holy Spirit today. Please pray for Robert and Jim’s group.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?” Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-36‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/jhn.8.31-36.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus explains how His truth will set them free from sin. If we could be set free from sin any other way, Jesus wouldn’t have died on the cross. If our friends could be set free any other way, then Jesus doesn’t matter. Do we know how big of a risk that is and is it thought about? Please pray that we and our friends abide in Jesus today. Please pray for Jeremy and Gary’s group.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.” ]]”‭‭John‬ ‭8:7-11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

All,
This stands out because Jesus always has the perfect balance of truth and love. He doesn’t condone the sin and tells her to sin no more, but He also loves her and by challenging the men to look at their motives. Do we judge or condone others to make ourselves feel better or do we accept God’s love for ourselves and others. Where is the balance? Jesus. Please pray that we and our friends share Christ’s love by speaking the truth, but only in Love for them. Please pray for William Curtis’ family as they have encountered a tragic loss of his 30-yr-old cousin.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“About the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and began teaching. The Jews therefore marveled, saying, “How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied?” So Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.”‭‭John‬ ‭7:14-17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/jhn.7.14-17.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus says, “If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.” They say the best way to detect counterfeit money is to know real money well. False teachers can fool people if we are not spending time with God ourselves. By spending time with God ourselves, we get encouraged by others who speak the Word and we can also discern when things don’t add up. Please pray that we and our friends spend today with God. “Unless the Lord builds the house, the laborers labor in vain” Psalm 127. Please pray for Robert and Jim’s group.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/jhn.6.63.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus says, “the flesh is no help at all.” It seems that our mindset can be in the flesh or the Spirit but not both at the same time. However it can switch in a millisecond. While the flesh is no help at all, we can make a conscious decision to either live in the flesh or the Spirit. The flesh is obviously weak, but the Spirit is powered by God. Please pray that we and our friends stay in the Spirit and not rely on the flesh to be “good”. Please pray for Cheever and Steven’s group.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.””‭‭John‬ ‭6:38-40‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/jhn.6.38-40.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus says, “that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.” Jesus says He should lose NOTHING of all that God has given Him. Jesus died for that person that hates Him now. Jesus died for the group that mocks Him now. He wants NOTHING more than to save them. They have free will to chose Jesus, but we can pray for them now. They can’t stop our prayers. Would we judge our children if they were victims of a con man or would we pray for them? Please pray that we and our friends pray for those who persecute Jesus in our laws today. Please pray for Mark Boomershine as he is starting a Bible study in California.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea, got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. The sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing. When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were frightened. But he said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” Then they were glad to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.”‭‭John‬ ‭6:16-21‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/jhn.6.16-21.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus has to tell them to not be afraid. How many times does Jesus show up in a miraculous way, but He has to remind us that it’s Him. Sometimes life is going fine and He adds something or takes away something that makes us go to Him and He says, “It is I; do not be afraid”. Please pray that we and our friends seek Jesus’ transformation in our lives and not be afraid of it. Please pray for men going to the CLC event in Tenn. this morning.

Daily CLC Prayer verse

“And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath. So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.” But he answered them, “The man who healed me, that man said to me, ‘Take up your bed, and walk.’ ” They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?””‭‭John‬ ‭5:9-12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

http://bible.com/59/jhn.5.9-12.esv
All,
This stands out because Jesus told him to pick up his mat, even though the Pharisees will see it as breaking the Sabbath. Does Jesus ask us to obey Him in ways that would challenge the rules of the day? I saw Ambassador Andrew Young speak yesterday and I’m glad he “picked up his mat and walked” when Jesus nudged him to stand for Jesus in times of strife. Ambassador Young trusted Jesus many times throughout his life and he followed Jesus’ nudges time and time again. Please pray that we and our friends ask for and follow Jesus’ nudges today. Please pray for the CLC breakfast in Tenn. on 9/30.
