Today’s reading is 1 Corinthians 7:25-40
“I want you to be free from anxieties. The unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord. But the married man is anxious about worldly things, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided. And the unmarried or betrothed woman is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to be holy in body and spirit. But the married woman is anxious about worldly things, how to please her husband. I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.”

All,
This stands out because Paul says, “I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.” Paul describes how even a wife or husband can hinder pure devotion to God. We know God created marriage and marriage is a wonderful thing. God uses our spouses to speak to us and help us determine His purpose. However it easy to put my wife’s opinion above God’s direction and that seems to be what Paul is discussing here. We’ve heard a million times that the closer a husband and wife move towards God, the closer they move towards each other. Please pray that we and our friends honor our relationship with God with our marriage. Please pray for Peyton Gully
