Daily CLC Prayer verse

Today’s reading is Acts 2:14-47
“Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.””

All,
This stands out because Peter says, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Why do you think Peter started off with “Repent”? Jesus and John the Baptist started with “Repent”. Why Repent? Jesus also says we must deny ourselves and pick up our cross before we can follow Him. Repentance is a acknowledgement of our humanness and helplessness. If we do not desire to repent, we still hold some idol higher than God. Please pray that we lay ourselves before God and surrender all to Him. Please pray for our group tonight as we have our overnight.
