Daily CLC Prayer verse

Today’s reading is Luke 14:25-35
“Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple. “Salt is good, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is of no use either for the soil or for the manure pile. It is thrown away. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.””

All,
This stands out because Jesus says, “So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.” This is tough! How do we renounce all we have. I like my wife, kids, parents, friends, house, etc. Does God want me to leave my family and give it all away? God gives us all these things because He loves us. However, He knows we are imperfect and can put these relationships and things above Him. He also knows we cannot truly be in these relationships or enjoy these things unless we keep them in the proper perspective and that is under His authority. Please pray that we and our friends enjoy our relationships and things knowing our most important relationship is with Jesus Christ and obeying Him. Please pray for Lynn Schuessler(Carl’s mom) as she recovers from a stroke.
