Today’s reading is Mark 10:1-31
“Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.””

This stands out because Jesus says, “who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time”. Jesus says now in this time and later says, “and in the age to come eternal life.” What are we receiving a hundredfold now? Jesus tells us we will also suffer in this time and be persecuted, so how are we getting a hundredfold now? He does promise us the Holy Spirit now. Paul speaks about the fruit of the Spirit in Galations 5:22-23(love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control). If we have the fruit of the Spirit, is that a hundredfold? I think so. Please pray that we and our friends seek the fruit of God and not the fruit of this world.
