Today’s reading is Mark 8:22-38
“And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”

This stands out because of the order that Jesus says to follow Him. Jesus says, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” You would think He would start with following Him and then to deny self and take up cross. However, Jesus says to deny self first. Self is the biggest impediment to a relationship with Jesus. We can’t serve self and God. We have to choose. Please pray that we and our friends serve God today and pray over His purpose for us today. Please pray for Jeff Nicholson as he is building a group in Buckhead.
